Dual-Role Therapist (Clinical Supervisor + Therapist)
Location: Courageous Minds Counseling | Clive, Iowa
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Clinical Director (JaCarie Owens, LCMHC, EMDR Consultant & Supervisor)
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Supervision (Primary Focus):
- Provide clinical supervision to interns and/or provisionally licensed therapists in accordance with Iowa licensure requirements.
- Offer support, accountability, and guidance related to clinical skills, documentation, ethical decision-making, and therapist development.
- Maintain accurate supervision documentation and meet regularly with the Clinical Director to ensure compliance and growth support.
- Participate in quarterly peer consultations and agency-wide trainings.
Therapy Caseload (Reduced):
- Maintain a smaller caseload of individual, couples, or family therapy clients (as agreed upon based on your availability and strengths).
- Deliver culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care aligned with Courageous Minds Counseling’s values and mission.
- Complete documentation (e.g., progress notes, treatment plans) within required timeframes.
Qualifications
- Fully licensed in the state of Iowa as a LMHC, LISW, or LMFT (Required)
- Approved supervisor designation or eligible to begin clinical supervision credentialing process (Preferred)
- At least 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience
- Strong clinical background in trauma, attachment, and/or relational work
- Experience mentoring, supervising, or training new clinicians (a plus)
- Commitment to cultural humility, clinical growth, and collaborative practice

Student Intern – Mental Health Counseling
Location: Courageous Minds Counseling | Clive, Iowa
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor (JaCarie Owens, LCMHC, EMDR Consultant & Supervisor)
Position Type: Internship (Master’s Level Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology Students)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, or group counseling under supervision and aligned with academic program requirements
- Participate in weekly clinical supervision and case consultations
- Observe and/or co-lead therapy sessions as part of your development (based on readiness and client needs)
- Complete documentation (intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans) in a timely and ethical manner
- Engage in reflective practices, trainings, and internal team discussions to deepen clinical knowledge
- Assist with administrative, outreach, or special projects aligned with your learning goals

We’re seeking a full-time or part-time licensed therapist to provide trauma-informed outpatient psychotherapy to clients at Courageous Minds Counseling. Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient therapy to individuals, couples, or families within your scope of competence and clinical passion
- Create and implement person-centered, trauma-informed treatment plans based on client needs
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation (within 24-48 hours)
- Attend team case consultations, peer reviews, and monthly clinical meetings
- Engage in ongoing learning around trauma, attachment, and cultural competence
- Optional: Provide clinical supervision to interns or associate-level clinicians
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage & family therapy, or related field
- Active license in the state of Iowa (LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, etc.)
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and attachment theory
- Experience working with diverse populations and presenting concerns
- Skilled in communication, organization, and time management
- Comfortable with EHR documentation and telehealth platforms
